For those of you following Joel Comm’s The Next Internet Millionaire, episode 2 is now available for viewing.

In the previous episode, Joel Marshall won the Hacker Safe immunity challenge, preventing him from being removed from the show for that episode. The group was broken up into two teams — KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and Bullseye — whereby each team had to develop a website strategy for marketing Simpleology and present their concept to Comm and Simpleology author Mark Joyner.

(Note: If you haven’t yet watched episode 2 and have any interest in doing so, I recommend watching it now if you don’t want to encounter any spoilers I’ve included below.)

This week’s episode began with a blogging challenge. Each individual drew a random topic from a hat, at which point they were given one hour to create a blog. The topics were comprised of topics included on each contestant’s interests as collected from their applications. As per the last episode, Joel Comm took advantage of an advertising opportunity during this week’s challenge, whereby the blogs were created using 1&1 Web Hosting. Charles Trippy won this challenge, earning him the Hacker Safe immunity shirt.

Following the individual competition, millionaire Armand Morin of NextBigSeminar.com provided a speech on branding. The key points of his speech included in the episode related to the idea of “obvious marketing,” meaning that everything about you and your company should be obvious to the customer. Continuing on, he explained how things like the logo should appear in a common location (the top-left corner of website), and that your website should make you look like a hundred million dollar company instead of a small fish in a big pond.

Morin’s speech led into this episode’s execution challenge, whereby each team had to create a new logo design for The Next Internet Millionaire. Because KISS lost a member in the last episode, they were able to select a member from team Bullseye to even out the teams. They quickly chose Jason Marshall, who left a very positive impression on me in the last episode.

The Next Internet Millionaire Logo Competition

As pictured on the right, the KISS group created a simple design with the show title in a clean, small-caps Arial font, taking up three lines. A computer, mouse, and mosaic keyboard were pictured alongside the left side of the text.

To the left, the Bullseye group’s design can be seen, whereby the title was in a clean capitalized layout, spanning two lines. The silhouettes of two businessmen shaking hands resembling and comprising the “M” in millionaire appeared to the left of the text.

The Bullseye group walked away the winners of this competition, sending KISS to the judgment room. KISS had two members of their group sent to the sandbox, meaning that they’ve been targeted for elimination, but they’ll have a chance to redeem themselves before that happens.

If you haven’t checked out The Next Internet Millionaire yet, I highly encourage you to watch the first and second episodes!
