PayPerPost Direct: New ReviewMe Competitor

Yesterday, PayPerPost, the sponsored posting program that enables you to make money blogging, unveiled a new part of its service entitled PayPerPost Direct. Like ReviewMe, PPP Direct will allow advertisers to request a sponsored post directly from a publisher. Prior to the addition of PPP Direct, PayPerPost only allowed advertisers to create opportunities that any blogger matching the minimum or maximum requirements of various rank and popularity criteria could accept.

The following is the video overview of PayPerPost Direct from the PayPerPost blog.

PPP DirectOn the left is an example of what the badge looks like for promoting yourself as a paid publisher. Clicking the badge will create a pop-up on top of the blog, where the advertiser can specify details regarding what they are interested in having. (Note that this link will not work in RSS feeds, as the badge is intended for use in the sidebar.) PPP Direct allows the publisher the opportunity to accept or decline the opportunity, or counter-offer with details such as price and tone within the post.

PayPerPost Direct will offer much more value than programs like ReviewMe. While ReviewMe charges a fee of 50-100%, PPP Direct will only take 10%, 5% of which is applied to PayPal and credit card transaction fees. For more information regarding this new feature, check out part one of the Birdo release on the PayPerPost blog.

Well you’re not far behind in noticing, since it was just introduced to the community yesterday. :)

I’m exhausted just listening to that woman in the video, does she never stop for breath?

I’ll be signing up as soon as I qualify. I think you’ve got to have had a blog for 3 months, right? Just three weeks to go for me!

According to the PayPerPost blogger FAQ, the blog has to be 90 days old to take part in any of the programs offered.

I received an e-mail stating that I got approved for this.

Maybe I should give it a try.

I haven’t had anyone request a PPP Direct review on my blog yet. It’s likely a combination of the requesting price, which I could potentially lower, and the fact that there’s no marketplace at PPP yet that allows advertisers to easily locate publishers. I think PPP is working on a marketplace though.
