Earlier this week, Danielle of Pink Internet Marketing introduced the Schmooze Award, created in conjunction with Mike of Ordinary Folk. As Danielle explains, the intention of the award is “to recognize those people that were exceptionally adept at creating relationships with other bloggers by making an effort to be part of a conversation, as opposed to a monologue.” Danielle and Mike each announced 5 winners of the award, and I was one of the recipients!

I have to hand it to Danielle — without having much of a clue on SEO, she entered the ShopAuto.ca SEO contest, taught herself everything she could, and managed to walk away with a nice cash prize for placing within the top three search results within not one, but two search engines.

Now, as someone who has been blogging for hardly three months, she already has a dedicated following. She may not have realized it when she created her Schmooze Award, but after receiving one from her, I’ve realized what a great opportunity this is for her to receive inbound links from other blogs. Not only will she be able to improve her stats on Technorati and search engines, but she’ll also find herself receiving more visitors from the blogs that link back to her with her award prominently displayed, which will in turn boost her Alexa traffic rank.
