Google Analytics Reporting Delay

July 30th, 2007 by Matt Huggins

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I noticed that for the past two days, my visitor count has not gone above 7 on Google Analytics, which is a huge drop from the 300-600 visitors/day I had throughout the week prior to this point. I assumed there was a reporting issue, and it looks like this is the case, as Google just announced on the official Analytics blog that there is a reporting delay. Fortunately, no data will be lost during this delay.

For those readers attempting to follow the steps in the Beginner’s Guide to Interpreting Website Metrics with Google Analytics, please be aware that you will not be able to observe any statistics regarding your visitors until this is resolved.

Oh cool, I was beginning to worry. According to my analytics report, there wasn’t anyone coming to my site. MyBlogLog reports, however, said that at least 10 people have visited my site today.

Thanks Matt, at least I know I’m not TOTALLY crazy. LOL

Boy, I feel bad for the people who were trying to use the Beginner’s Guide over the weekend. I remember that it took me a couple of tries to configure my website properly for Google Analytics; what about the person who was setting it up on Sunday, thinking, “I’ve done everything right, how come I’m not getting any data?”

I’m starting to get data on my site now, so they’re apparently working on the problem.

I was going to say your Alexa Rank is reporting 111,808. That doesn’t come across as a website with only 10 visitors per day.
