Find Blogger Job Opportunities with Blog Marketplace
August 1st, 2007 by Matt Huggins
Today is the unveiling of Blog Marketplace, a new solution that allows bloggers to post job opportunities and, in due time, will simplify the process of buying and selling blogging websites in a simple auction format.
Blogger job postings benefit both current and potential bloggers at the unbeatable listing price of free. Users can quickly browse existing blogging opportunities based upon blog category, skills required, and additional details specified by the opportunity poster.
When the blog auction marketplace goes live in the upcoming weeks, weblog owners interested in selling blogs will appreciate the increased number of potential buyers who may not have otherwise known their blog is for sale thanks to the organic marketing nature of Blog Marketplace. Potential buyers will find it easy to locate information and price details within blog auctions, allowing them to make an informed decision before ever placing a bid.
My plan for monetizing Blog Marketplace is twofold. One method of generating income will be to find an advertiser who wishes to place a banner at the top of the website. The second method of generating income will be to charge a small fee for placing blog auctions on the site, which will occur via PayPal. I’m still debating whether or not I will include the Blog Marketplace income into my monthly earnings report.
I want to give a special thanks to those who offered their assistance in testing several weeks ago, namely: Christine, Danielle, Erik, Beau, Bruce, Bill, Apollia, and Tanner. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Hernan, who generously created a stylized button for Blog Marketplace that now appears in my left-hand navigation bar.

I was wondering when this was going to launch. Looks good so far, you just need to get some people to post some jobs and you will be doing great. Do you mind if I ask, did you use cakePHP for the development? Good luck with this project!

Yeah, hopefully there will be more job opportunities posted in very soon. I’ll be posting an update when the blog auction portion of the site goes live as well. As for the development, it was done using the CakePHP framework.

I’ve been watching this site, waiting for it to launch. I think you’ve got a great idea here, and it was an honor to help with the testing.

Matt, our wonderful friend Christine sent me an email informing me of your project. And you know… in my experience, it never ceases to amaze me how things just happen to fall into place at the right time and at the right moment.
I want more than ever to help see to it that your project becomes a success. And what is almost scary is the fact that I made $600 dollars yesterday selling two blogs. Granted, I spent $500 dollars of my profit and quickly hired Christine to write for me. What an amazing person by the way! She is great!
With my quick and almost over night success of offering my readers the opportunity to buy me out and purchase my domain name, my concept and business idea prior to me developing it is gold. Twice in the last 36 hours, I made a public announcement that I am preparing to launch a new dot Com blog…
And I am serious too… I have plenty of sites that are making money. I am not greedy and I want to give people the opportunity to take ownership of my ideas prior to me rolling them out myself. If I don’t get a buyer… then my feelings aren’t hurt because I will make money either way.
Here is what I would like to do. If your system is up and running and functional (which I think it is…as I successfully registered), I would like to use Blog Market Place as my official media for handing all my dot Com blog transactions.
If I am not mistaken, that’s what this system is for right? What I am slightly confused about it the auction part. That part isn’t going to work for me. Most of my ideas, blogs, etc… are dependant upon a creative offer. If money can’t be used, then something else of value is offered. Such as the case with Christine. She bought my domain name for $500 dollars. She didn’t pay me cash for the domain name. She paid using a service skill equivalent, in her case, professional publication.
Is this system able to harbor all of my creative offers that I want to present to my readers? If so, then I am sold and I will have no problems promoting and spreading the word about this. If fact if all is what I think it is, I would love to have a banner (approx 180×120) to put into my sidebar. Can this banner point direct to my current offers page?
I would love to hear back from you and I am excited to discover more about your system. So far, I have to say that I am very impressed. It seems that Christine is a magnet of luck for many people. I am glad that she sent me this email.
Best Regards,
Garry Conn

Thanks for the support, everyone! Hopefully I can complete the auction portion of the site very shortly. Most of it is working, but there are still various pieces that need to be implemented.
Garry, thanks for getting in touch. I’ll shoot you an email with more information.

Hey Matt,
I think this looks like a great idea. I personally don’t have any interest in buying and selling blogs but I certainly see the need for a site that could help this process along. I think the job board aspect of the site is going to be very useful for quite a few people. I know that I will certainly stop by often to see what kinds of jobs are available. I wish you all the luck on your new project. By the looks of it though I don’t think you are going to need it.
