FeedBurner TotalStats and MyBrand Now Free

When Google purchased FeedBurner, it was clear that Google had big things planned for the service. Two changes that came to light today include FeedBurner’s TotalStats Pro and MyBrand aspects of their service becoming free.
TotalStats Pro, a service that previously cost $4.99/month for access, offers features such as detailed feed item popularity and statistics, referrer reports for tracking traffic, and detailed advertisement metrics.
MyBrand, which cost $3/month prior to this change, enables you to keep control over the URL of your RSS feed such that it remains under your domain name. Without using MyBrand, a standard FeedBurner feed takes on the form http://feeds.feedburner.com/FEEDNAME.
These changes are more than likely Google’s attempt to draw more users into the FeedBurner service. Prior to these changes, there has been much hesitance by some bloggers in joining the service due to issues such as branding. By opening more FeedBurner accounts, Google is taking the first step in further monetizing the growing advertising opportunities — notably the FeedBurner Ad Network (FAN) — available for publishers and advertisers alike within RSS feeds.
