Blog Earnings for June 2007

Another month, another dollar! As I mentioned in my May 2007 earnings report, I earned a total of $78.82 from various sources for the month of May. For June, I earned a bit less at $62.28. The chart below displays my earnings by source over the past six months.

As mentioned before, I never truly attempted to monetize this blog in any way except for Google AdSense ads until March, when I first started using Kontera ContentLink, and April, when I first started using paid review programs. May represents the first month where I began to expand and experiment with alternative income streams.

June 2007 Blog Earnings

Earnings Breakdown

Below is a detailed breakdown of the various sources of June’s earnings compared to what was earned in May.

Source May June Change
Google AdSense $6.73 $13.80 105%
Kontera ContentLink $1.28 $0.00 (100%)
AuctionAds $5.00 $0.34 (93%)
ReviewMe $29.00 $0.00 (100%)
PayPerPost $27.50 $30.00 9%
BloggerWave $9.31 $9.31 0%
Backlink Promotion $0.00 $8.83 N/A
Total $78.82 $62.28 (21%)

Google AdSense and PayPerPost were the only two sources where earnings grew from month to month. Technically speaking, AuctionAds earned more during June in click-throughs, as May’s earnings is solely due to a $5 sign-up promotion.

Earnings remained the same for BloggerWave, and I offered an additional opportunity for increasing backlinks to your website or blog that provided some additional income for the month.

ContentLink was undoubtedly going to earn nothing this month since I am no longer utilizing that service as a revenue stream, and I completed no ReviewMe reviews during the month.

Decrease in Total Revenue

I had a slight reduction in earnings between May and June, which is due to several primary factors. First, I have included less AdSense ads on my blog this month compared to past months. As such, the newest posts that new and regular readers commonly come across did not earn as much money for me as was possible.

Additionally, I only had one sponsored post throughout June compared to the eight I completed in May. This single blog post earned me more from PayPerPost than the three I completed using the same service the prior month. However, I was unable to find many relevant opportunities that I wanted to complete, meaning that I earned less from sponsored posts when taking ReviewMe and Sponsored Reviews into account.

Finally, I have been actively working on a project that I unfortunately have not been able to get online as of yet. As such, the time I’ve spent working on this project has left me with less time to complete as many blog posts during the latter part of this month as I would have preferred. I expect this to change in the very near future though.

What’s in Store for July

During June and part of May, I also managed to have affiliates sign up for AdSense and AuctionAds using my referral link. In total, I had 2 people sign up for AdSense and 6 people sign up for AuctionAds, each of which could potentially result in increased income for these programs in the near future, hopefully starting early in the new month.

I’m still optimistic about making a direct advertising sale under the “Sponsored” section at the top of the right column. I’m also hoping to make more PayPerPost Direct sales similar to review completed on Real Estate 2.0. Both of these opportunities will require me to increase my focus and efforts I put into my blog, from which I unfortunately have been distracted lately.

Once I have completed the initial release of my current project — the cause of my distraction, still yet to be announced — I will be able to focus on adding more valuable content to my blog. I’m hoping to write some flagship articles I’ve been thinking about as well as some killer linkbait that will greatly increase the number of readers while increasing my RSS subscriber count.

Hello first time visitor to the site. I was just wondering about how many daily visitors you get to your site to get these numbers. I am in the process of trying to monetize my blog and was curious. Thanks

  2. Carl Pei Says:

Cool earnings table. How do you make those?

  3. Matt Huggins Says:

Hi, Bubs. From June 1st through June 29th, I had 2,086 visits (1,492 unique visitors) and 4,171 page views. I averaged between 50-75 RSS feed readers per day as well.

My reason for secluding June 30th from these stats is because I am starting to receive an atypically high amount of traffic compared to what I experienced over the rest of the month due to a piece of linkbait that made itself around the blogosphere. I’ll be writing a post about this soon.

Well done Matt. Starting next month, I’m going to post my earnings too I think, if for no other reason then I’ll be able to see where I’ve come from. Question: for the AdSense ads, have you tried different placements and colors to max your revenue?

  12. Matt Huggins Says:

My AdSense ads have pretty much always used the same link/text colors as I used in my blog. I tried several placements (within content, below header, in sidebar), and what I use now (within content) is what continued to show profits for my blog. This might not be what works best for everyone, but it’s what seems to work for me at least.

Looking forward to seeing your earnings next month!
