I entered my URL as www.matthuggins.com, and they never approved me after several months when my stats were far above other sites that were approved. I even emailed them, but I just got a simple form-mail response. I finally got tired of waiting and resubmitted the site as matthuggins.com (dropped the www), and it was accepted immediately, which proved to me that my site met the criteria and their automated approval system is not working right. Selling direct advertising seemed pretty easy after the first sale. I first made sure my advertising page was up to date with stats, info, and pricing. Then I searched for advertisers on similar blogs and contacted about 5-6 sites with a well-worded email to see if they would be interested in advertising. I got several "thanks for the info" responses, and I made one sale with SearchEngineGuide.com. Over the course of the rest of the month, other advertisers found and approached me.
