AutoRoll Not Worth the Trouble

In a previous post I presented the opportunity to share popular blogs with AutoRoll, a widget intended to provide links from your blog to related blogs based upon popularity. After allowing the widget to display on my website for almost a month and a half, I found that it provided little value in the grand scheme.
A quick check of my AutoRoll statistics (displayed below) demonstrated that a rather minute percentage of blogs were benefiting from my blog displaying the widget, and my blog experienced the same lack of value in turn.

Given the details of these statistics, I have decided to remove the widget from my blog. For those of you who use AutoRoll or a similar widget, I am interested in hearing if you have found greater success than I did or if your results fell in line with mine.

I have the AutoRoll on my blog, and have had it there since April 14th.
I don’t really know whether or not I got any traffic from it… apparently there have been 2361 impressions from 1714 unique users of my blog’s link on other blogs, but 0 clicks, to or from my blog.
I’m not sure these click statistics are accurate, though, unless my own clicks are somehow blocked from being recorded - because I’ve been clicking the links myself quite a bit, just to see where the links go (which is how I discovered your very interesting blog
).
Anyhow, since I enjoy randomly stumbling across new, interesting blogs, I’m going to keep the AutoRoll anyhow despite the possible uselessness of it for attracting traffic. It entertains me, and that’s all I really care about.
Besides, I think the statistics have to be wrong, because of how much I myself have been clicking the links.
Best wishes,
Apollia

That’s interesting about your statistics, Apollia. I’m tempted to e-mail the AutoRoll team to ask them about why clicks might not be appearing to see if there is something that is not being recorded for any reason. If that is the case and I am actually receiving/offering more click-throughs than their stats show, I would reconsider my decision to remove AutoRoll from my blog.

Yes, I just emailed them to let them know about my own outgoing clicks being 0 despite my own clicks.
I didn’t actually ask them a question, just told them about that possible problem, so, not sure I’ll get a response, but if I do, I’ll comment about it.
Best wishes,
Apollia

Thanks for letting me know, Apollia, I’d be interested to hear if they get back to you.

Didn’t hear from them, oh well. Guess I should have phrased my email as a question.
My AutoRoll still features 0 clicks, despite the fact that I click the links myself every so often.
The links aren’t rotating as often (or at least it doesn’t feature many blogs I haven’t seen before), which is starting to bore me, so I might get rid of my AutoRoll as well…

I have only a small one - three links. It doesn´t rotate. It doesn´t show blogs I would like to read. I might get rid of my Autoroll too.

It sounds like you’re having the same issue that Apollia mention, Karin. I think it’s just another reason that the widget may not be worth the trouble.
