5 Things Blog Tag Meme

January 21st, 2007 by Matt Huggins

I admit, there’s a lot I have to learn about the whole blogosphere deal. I never heard of “pinging” (in the sense that blogs use it) until I installed WordPress and started using it. The long and short of it, pinging lets you find out when people link to your blog or specific entries within your blog.

With that said, WordPress informed me that I was tagged by Ian, the author of AW4P: Internet Marketing & SEO Blog. I’m supposed to write about 5 things people likely don’t know about me, then tag 5 bloggers in turn to do the same. On that note, here are those 5 things you may not know:

  1. I’m currently unemployed. I was fired from my last job because I was simply lacking motivation. I grew tired of the 9-5 job scene (among other more personal issues), which is why I’m working to become entrepreneurial (my true goal and passion).
  2. I helped my brother put together a site related to sports betting called ArbCentral. He has some other sports betters signed up under him, and he made a good profit with a good, fairly unique, business strategy. (Unfortunately some legal issues are occurring in the US that will likely cause him to try to sell the site.)
  3. I started programming at the age of 12. I created a one-on-one online chatroom with a whiteboard for drawing pictures together by about the age of 14, and I did a lot of game programming with many half-finished projects as I learned.
  4. I got a bachelors degree in computer science at the University of Delaware. I should have graduated in 3.5 years, but my academic advisor lied and screwed me over, forcing me to have to pay for an extra semester. (I took it up with the chair and all, but she didn’t help at all.)
  5. I’ve only been outside the US briefly when on two cruises, each of which stopped in Mexico for about 2 days each, and one week I spent in Canada when younger. I have never been to the middle or western United States.

Here are the five bloggers I’m tagging to do the same:

  1. scottmw (Adsense Fire)
  2. forteach (for teach)
  3. proseo (Pro-SEO - Search Engine Optimization)
  4. spud (Sense of Adsense)
  5. Duzins (Practical Blogging)

    Hey man,

    Nice post!

I tried adding you on Google Talk. Do you use it?

Looks like we’re in similar situations. :)

What is the tagging idea at the bottom of this post, btw?

It’s basically just 5 people I picked to make a post like this. Don’t feel obligated though. I was actually surprised to find my site in someone else’s post like this, and I figured it wouldn’t hurt. Heck, if anything, it might give me more backlinks to my blog. :P

Yeah, I use Google Talk. My username is matt.huggins, but I’m not on there at the moment because I’m at a friend’s place. I’m usually on there all day though. :)

  3. Scott Weaver Says:

Yeah, me too. I go back to school in February but for the time being, I’m on all day. Add me when you get a chance– I’m scottmweaver on there.

This is a cool idea. Like a link-pyramid scheme sort of.
